Battery: Ovonic Materials Division — Overview

The technology arm of Ovonic Battery Company has evolved into the growing Ovonic Materials Division. While transportation, stationary, telecommunications and other prismatic nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery applications reside in the capable hands of our Cobasys LLC joint venture (JV), the Ovonic Materials Division continues to cultivate the substantial consumer NiMH battery business.

This consumer battery business includes all aspects of licensing and royalty collection, the continuing development of metal hydride and nickel hydroxide materials, as well as the manufacturing of nickel hydroxide materials. We also liaison with several transportation licensees, including Sanyo and GoldPeak, who were in-place prior to the formation of our Cobasys JV.

Technical innovations resulting from our ongoing research and development creates and maintains our world leading NiMH intellectual property (IP) portfolio, serves to protect our JV from unlicensed activities, and continues to attract new consumer NiMH battery licensees. We thereby successfully leverage our IP to create new opportunities for generating battery revenues and shareholder value.
